SHOWTIME delves into the complex world of cheerleading: on one hand, stereotypical gender roles shine brightly under the spotlight – on the other, we witness a dance team that steps forward with autonomy, radiating a passionate love for the sport. They aim to be recognized as professional hip-hop dancers and strong, female role models in a modern society. The accusations of practicing a sexist and outdated sport are shrugged off by dancers EMMA, CARO, and NADIA with a smile. The Liberty Dance Team performs during halftime at the top-tier basketball league. SHOWTIME shines a spotlight on a group of women who, despite challenges, dance with grace and smiles.
